Located in Volnay, Domaine de Montille produces terroir-driven, elegant wines with exceptional aging potential. This family-owned estate was established in the 1730s, however its reputation grew from the late 1940s onward under Hubert de Montille, who transformed the domaine into a benchmark for classic Burgundy with restrained, aromatic expressions of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Today, Domaine de Montille is led by his children, Etienne and Alix, with American-born Brian Sieve as the Cellar Master. Whilst working alongside his father, Etienne helped to transform the estate and introduced organic and biodynamic practices which are now certified. Domaine de Montille produces wines from some of Burgundyβs most prestigious appellations, including Volnay, Pommard, and Corton, all of which emphasise purity, structure, and a sense of place.
A hallmark of Domaine de Montilleβs winemaking is their use of whole-cluster fermentation, tailored to each vintage and cuvΓ©e to enhance aromatic complexity and texture. Their approach combines traditional methods with modern precision, ensuring wines that are approachable in youth yet capable of extraordinary development over decades. The estateβs philosophy reflects respect for its heritage and the unique terroirs of Burgundy, making Domaine de Montille a must-know name for collectors and enthusiasts alikeβ.
