The 2023 Volnay Les Champans 1er Cru, which includes one-third whole cluster, has an open, transparent bouquet with red cherries, raspberries and light rose petal scents-crisp and edgy in terms of delineation. The palate is taut and fresh, a little lighter and more nimble than the previous vintage, with finer tannins and a chalky-textured finish. Classy.
