Understand which items are already listed and which you can list for sale yourself
Firstly, it is important to understand which items are already listed and which are available to list.
Previously, to list your wines for sale you would have needed to organise this through your account manager. Under the column ‘For Sale‘, if you see a green tick icon, these products would have been listed for sale by your account manager as per your request. If you want to edit or manage this, please contact us.
Where you see a red cross icon, this item has not been listed and providing it’s not on a delivery request you will be able to list for sale yourself. Continue to the next step to see how.
If you see a blue tag icon, this means you have already listed this item for sale yourself. Currently, you cannot edit this listing yourself, so you will need to contact us to make any changes.
List an item for sale myself
Any products which have a red cross icon under the ‘For Sale’ column, you are free to list for sale yourself.
Go to the ‘Consigned’ column and click the dark blue tag icon. This will redirect you to a new screen where you’ll be able to see all available listings and the prices on Wine-Searcher. This will enable you to set a competitive price, in line with the market.

Check prices and create your wine listing
- This section displays live wine market prices from various merchants as listed on Wine-Searcher.Β This will give you a good indication of what price you could list for to remain competitive in the market and increase your chances of selling. Please be sure to check your prices as data inaccuracies may occur and Lay & Wheeler Trading can not be responsible for any mistakes made.
- Select the quantity of bottles or cases you wish to list for sale. You have the option to list all, one case or a specific number of cases.
- You have the option to price your listing by bottle or case price. Select the option you prefer and type in the box your price. You can also select a finish date for your listing.
- The net proceeds display the final price you will receive after our margin has been withheld. You can also see your profit/loss based on the cost price vs your net proceeds. This can work as a good indicator to help pick up any mistakes when setting your prices.
- Agree to our terms and conditions, then click ‘Save’.
Confirmation and editing listings
You have now successfully listed an item for sale yourself and can view a summary of your listing.
Unless otherwise stated, your listing will be automatically approved and will shortly be listed on the Lay & Wheeler Trading website, Wine-Searcher and Google Shopping.
Currently, it is not possible to edit or cancel a listing yourself, so if you wish to do so you will need to contact your account manager. We hope to provide this functionality in the near future.
Once your item has sold you will receive an email confirmation and your account will be credited with the net proceed amount. You can either use this credit to purchase more wines through us or withdraw it after 30 days.
