Tasting Notes
Antonio Galloni 92-94
The 2021 Vieux ChΓ’teau Mazerat is a sleek, racy wine. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, licorice, spice and espresso all meld together effortlessly. A wine with no hard edges and terrific balance, Vieux ChΓ’teau Mazerat is seriously impressive in this tasting.
Anticipated maturity: 2025-2041
Neal Martin 90-92
The 2021 Vieux ChΓ’teau Mazerat includes fruit from Pontet-Labrie and Le CarrΓ© this year due to frost. It was picked October 6-14 and matured in 60% new oak. The perfumed nose of red plum and dark chocolate reveals a touch of licorice with aeration. The well-balanced palate is medium-bodied and cohesive, with pliant tannins, a powdery texture and fine weight in the mouth. A little fleshier on the white-pepper-tinged finish since there is less Merlot in the blend.
Anticipated maturity: 2025-2040
