The 2021 Echézeaux Grand Cru is another that comes across as quite reductive at first, although unlike Jean Tardy’s Echézeaux this alleviates with aeration to reveal pretty brambly red fruit, undergrowth and light rose petal scents. The palate is bright and perky with finely spun tannins that lend a silky mouthfeel. Beautiful balance with pure tart red fruit lacing the finish. There is an excellent Echézeaux here, though it needs three or four years to show its mettle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
