Tasting Notes
Antonio Galloni 95
The 2019 Barolo Romirasco is another compelling wine in this range from the Conterno family. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, spice, new leather, blood orange, licorice, spice and rose petal capture the beguiling nuance that is so typical of first-class Barolo. Readers will find a wine of tremendous intrigue. Give it a few years to soften. A kiss of French oak lingers.
Anticipated maturity: 2026-2036
The Wine Spectator 97
The floral, cherry, strawberry and iron flavours are shaded by vanilla in this sleek, shimmering red. There’s also a flash of black pepper as this builds on the palate to a long, salty aftertaste. Eucalyptus and tobacco round out the profile, backed by a solid structure.
James Suckling 95
A perfumed and fresh Barolo with orange peel, lavender, and white lilac character. Some nutmeg. Full-bodied with chewy tannins yet they are fine and polished. Plenty of reserved character at the finish. Highlights the excellence of the vintage.
