Tasting Notes
Vinous 92
Deep ruby. Pungent dark berry and cherry pit aromas are complemented by candied violet, mocha and black pepper. Fleshy and expansive on the palate, offering sweet, spice-tinged black and blue fruit flavors that put on weight and become more spicy with air. Open-knit, pure and seamless in texture, finishing with superb punch and velvety tannins that add grip. [Josh Raynolds, 02/01/2015]
Anticipated maturity: 2017-2032
Wine Advocate 90
A medium-bodied, structured, savory and tannic effort, the 2012 Cote Rotie Seigneur de Maugiron exhibits notes of smoke, dried soil, and leather to go with a black raspberry and blackberry core of fruit. Despite all of the tannin, it has a solid mid-palate. Give it 2-3 years in the cellar and drink bottles through 2027. This team continues to knockout it out of the park. Run by Jacques Grange and Claire Darnaud, all of these new releases merit serious attention. [Jeb Dunnuck, 01/12/2014]
Anticipated maturity: 2016-2027
