Domaine Evremond, Classic CuvΓ©e Edition II

β€œa nod to Comtes de Champagne”

Jancis Robinson MW

If you missed out on the inaugural release last year, we implore you to secure your cases of Domaine Evremond’s Classic CuvΓ©e Edition II without delay. At Β£235 IB per case, this is a veritable bargain versus its peers in France – which it more than stands up to, as the domaine is co-founded by one of the great Champagne Houses: Taittinger. If you’re a loyal Champagne drinker yet sceptical on English sparkling, note that Jancis Robinson MW’s review states the wine is “So ripe, I’m not sure I would guess it was English if served it blind”.

This second release, based on the superb 2021 harvest, has “exquisite purity of fruit” and an “equally vivid” palate (Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous). Whilst unscored by the late Matthew Jukes, he declared this to be “a stunning, expansive and unmistakably grand wine”. Having spent three years on its lees, the blend of 65% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay, and 10% Pinot Meunier has come into its own. Showing maturity whilst retaining a vibrant salinity with crisp orchard fruits, it is truly a delicious English sparkling wine that our team will be serving at parties with friends and families.

Why Buy?

Reasons to drink, collect, or invest
  • With Champagne Taittinger’s centuries of know-how and the excellent chalky terroir of Kent, Domaine Evremond easily competes with the wines of Champagne and offers fantastic value in comparison.
  • Edition II “builds considerably on the first release”. Its vinous nature makes it the perfect accompaniment for a meal, with “so much finesse” and a ripe richness that Jancis Robinson notes could be “a nod to Comtes de Champagne“.
  • Having visited the estate and thoroughly enjoyed our tastings of both Edition I and II, it is clear that Domaine Evremond will become a benchmark estate in England.

More on Domaine Evremond

Domaine Evremond is the English sparkling wine project, founded from a shared dream between Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger, of the renowned Champagne house, and Patrick McGrath, of wine specialists Hatch Mansfield. The domaine’s name honors Charles de Saint-Γ‰vremond, a 17th-century Frenchman who popularized Champagne in England. Situated in Chilham, Kent, the estate benefits from the region’s perfect combination of chalky soil and a mild climate, similar to that of Champagne. The Garden of England provides the ideal environment for growing grapes, offering a unique expression of terroir in every bottle…
