2024 Taylor's Vintage Port

“This is a Vintage Port destined to give decades of drinking pleasure”

Neal Martin, Vinous

Neal Martin

Do not miss today’s offer: 2024 Taylor’s Vintage Port. With a “killer line of acidity” and Taylor’s “trademark structure and grip”, we should all adopt Neal Martin’s philosophy for approaching how, and when, to drink Port: “Drink ‘em young because they do give immense pleasure, especially when served just below room temperature. Drink ‘em old because their lifespan will arc over decades. Just drink ‘em whenever suits you.”

The 2024 vintage marks the smallest and rarest General Declaration in the history of The Fladgate Partnership (comprised of Taylor’s, Fonseca, Croft, and Quinta do Portal). There were only 5,000 cases produced and, as such, the 2024s are likely to become rarities in the future. Taylor’s vintage release receives 97 points from Neal Martin, whilst Julia Harding MW awards an almost perfect 19/20-point score, noting its “great purity and length”. David Guimaraens, The Fladgate’s Partnership’s Technical Director and Head Winemaker, comments that the 2024s “show incredible freshness, complexity, and a wonderful sense of balance”, which shines through in the glass.

Why Buy?

Reasons to drink, collect, or invest
  • 2024 marks the first time since 2017 that there has been a General Declaration for Vintage Ports. As such, “any Port aficionado should make a berth for these wines in their cellar” (Neal Martin).
  • Taylor’s 2024 Vintage Port is awarded 19/20 points by Julia Harding MW and 97 points by Neal Martin, who confirms that the wine is “very complex and beautifully refined”.
  • This is the smallest vintage declaration from Taylor’s, meaning bottles will be hard to come by in the future – particularly as the tendency to drink port in its youth continues.

More on Taylor's

Founded in 1692, Taylor Fladgate are one of two uber Port houses that dominate the Douro landscape, and have remained family owned throughout its 300-year history with a portfolio which today includes Fonseca, Krohn and Croft.

Rather than centring solely on declared Vintage Ports, Taylor’s reputation also rests on its deep library of aged tawnies, single-harvest releases, and the long-term stewardship of some of the Douro’s most important vineyard sites….
