2024 Fonseca Vintage Port
βThis is one of the greatest Fonseca releases in recent yearsβ
Neal Martin, Vinous

The 2024 General Declaration for Vintage Port means that we couldn’t stop with just one offer from The Fladgate Partnership. In addition to the “very complex and beautifully refined” Taylor’s, we are pleased to be able to offer the 2024 Fonseca Vintage Port. With “great freshness and extreme pure fruit” (Julia Harding MW), the 2024 Fonseca is a Vintage Port for the history books; awarding 98 points, this is a wine which Neal Martin believes to be “one of the greatest Fonseca releases in recent years”.
Fonseca was established in 1815 and has now been run by the Guimaraens family for five generations. Known for the enviable consistency of their Vintage Ports, in 2024 Fonseca has produced a wine with “outstanding weight yet ethereal control and harmony on the finish” – one that is capable of ageing in bottle for decades, or being enjoyed in its youth for its “luscious black fruit”.
Bottles of Vintage Port are always a memorable way to mark a special occasion or event, and the 2024 Fonseca thoroughly deserves a space at any celebratory table.

Why Buy?
- On the 2024 Vintage Ports, Julia Harding MW writes they are “marked by joyful fruit purity and freshness while maintaining excellent balance between structured tannins and luscious sweetness. Many of them are shockingly delicious at this ridiculously young age and yet are sure to have a long life ahead.”
- With high scores across the board (98 points from Neal Martin, and 18/20 points from Julia Harding MW), 2024 Fonseca has “had the audacity to out-manoeuvre Taylor’s (only by a whisker…)”.
- Neal Martin confirms that “any Port aficionado should make a berth for these [2024] wines in their cellar“.
- 2024 is the smallest and rarest harvest in The Fladgate Partnership history, meaning there is very limited availability of Fonseca’s Vintage Port.

The Guimaraens family are now in their fifth generation of running this Port house; since 1896, virtually every single Fonseca Vintage Port has been crafted by just four members of the family.
